Sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, Sore throat?

This is a super flu season. Lots of Canadian catch cold. A cold is a kind of viral infection that affects your upper respiratory tract, centering mostly in the nose and throat.

Upper respiratory infections including colds or the influenza virus are prevalent during the cold months of the year, but can be caught all year round. Typical symptoms are Sneezing, sore throat, headache, stuffy and runny nose, coughing, and body aches.

Acupoints for coughing, sore throat:

Large Intestine 4 (LI4 合谷)

Located in the area between the thumb and index finger, LI4 is a control point for the head. It is helpful for symptoms such as headache and sinus congestion.

Tongli(HT5, 通裡）

HT 5 Acupuncture Point(Tongli) belongs to the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin, which can relieve heart disease,sore throat, stiff tongue, aphasia, wrist pain.

Location

1 cun above the wrist crease on the radial side of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon, on the HT 3 – HT 7 line.

Dagukong (EX-UE-5 大骨空)

Location

On the thumb dorsum, in the center of the transverse creases of the interphalangeal joint.

How to locate

Slightly bend the interphalangeal joint of the thumb. The point is located at the vertex of the flexed joint.

Lieque(LU7, 列缺)

LU7 is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Taiyin Lung Meridian of Hand. Lieque is the Luo-connecting point of the Lungs.

location

Superior to the styloid process of the radius, 1.5 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist.
