Antiphospholipid syndrome and alternative therapy
The anti-phospholipid syndrome (APS) is a systemic autoimmune disorder featured by recurrent thrombosis, obstetrical morbidity(pregnant loss), heart valve disease, renal failure, and neurologic complications induced by persistent anti-phospholipid antibodies (APLA).
Antiphospholipid syndrome, or antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS or APLS), is an autoimmune, in which the immune system mistakenly creates antibodies that attack self tissues in the body. The antibodies can cause deep vein thrombosis (blood clots). The blood clots may form in lungs, kidneys, spleen or legs. when no other causes are found, Antiphospholipid antibodies are a major cause for recurrent miscarriages and pregnancy complications.
Symptoms of antiphospholipid syndrome
Abnormal blood clotting: Deep vein thrombosis in legs: pain, swelling and redness. The clots may travel into lungs or other organs
Abortion, repeated miscarriages or stillbirths
- High blood pressure (preeclampsia) and premature delivery
- Miscarriage is common before 10 weeks of pregnancy, so miscarriage after 10 weeks or more than three miscarriages before 10 weeks should be suspected.
Stroke, Transient ischemic attack (TIA) and cardiovascular diseases
- Blood clot may cause Stroke and heart diseases.
- Transient ischemic attack (TIA). Similar to a stroke, a TIA usually lasts only a few minutes and causes no permanent damage. Rash Some people develop a red rash with a lacy, net-like pattern.
Herbal medicine for APS
