Herbal medicine, also called phytomedicine or phytotherapy, are natural botanical products, derived from plants, that people may use to treat and prevent diseases.

Herbal medicine is the study of pharmacognosy and the use of medicinal plants, which are a basis of traditional medicine. From the worldwide pharmacology study of herbal medicine, some of them have successfully been translated into modern remedies, such as aspirin, artemisinin and berberine.
Herbal medicines or products of supplements are compounds from botanicals, such as plants’ leaves, bark, roots, seeds, or flowers that people can use for medicinal purposes. They may offer therapeutic benefits when people use them as complementary medicine.
It is estimated that 88% of countries use herbal medicine by World Health Organization. It is believed that herbal medicines could help:
- treat mild and moderate conditions
- boosting the immune system
- increasing energy
- losing weight
- enhancing mood
- improving sleep
- start treatment before taking conventional medicine
